This summer, I have been invited to 7 weddings and I wanted to provide some wedding Instagram tips based on my experience.

1. Create a hashtag for your wedding. Forget about the signature drinks, it’s all about the Instagram hashtag today. It is a variation of both names, a celebrity style mashup for the bride and groom to have their own stream of wedding attendee taken photos. The candid ones are always the best.

2. Make sure you choose a unique hashtag. #Smithwedding has nearly 1,500 posts on Instagram and unfortunately, that’s not all from one wedding.

3. If you are in the wedding and you get to see the bride before her groom does, DO NOT post a picture without her consent. Social media savvy grooms would prefer to see their bride for the first time walking down the aisle, not in their Instagram feed.

4. Don’t focus on Instagram so much that you miss out on the wedding. You can take as many pictures as you want but the hashtag #latergram is used for a reason.

5. Don’t go overboard with the hashtags. #want? #need? #buy? #sell?

6. Do tag the bride and groom in the photos you post of them. This should not be in place of using their unique hashtag.

7. Don’t post any pictures of anyone at the wedding that you wouldn’t want posted of you.
