Last fall, I collected fallen leaves as their vibrant colors were peaking in hopes of creating some type of wall art with them. I placed them in one of my large thick books and (to be honest) completely forgot about them until a few weeks ago. Since they held most of their color, I was able to complete my project of turning them into art for the wall. Here’s how to do it yourself:

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  1. A set of frames. I purchased this set of white frames from Amazon ($45)
  2. Cheesecloth, found online here.
  3. Leaves of your choice
  4. 1 large paper bag
  5. 1 Disposable pie tin
  6. A block of paraffin wax, found at any craft store

DIRECTIONS

1. Break up the wax and melt in the disposable pie tin on low heat. DIY Project

2. Once melted, dip each leaf into the hot wax very carefully. It tends to bunch up at the ends, so you may need to swipe off excess wax with your finger while it’s still hot.

3. Lay leaves to dry on wax paper for 2 hours. 2

4. While leaves are drying, cut the cheesecloth and paper bag up to fit the area within the frames. 3

5. Position the leaf on top of the cheesecloth and into the frame.

6. Hang on wall as you please. 6 5

Being from Michigan, I was especially excited when I found this leaf. 🙂
