It’s going to snow in Chicago tomorrow because apparently spring doesn’t get any respect anymore. To avoid the cold and the flurries, I am planning on staying inside all day long with a book and my cats (I typed that out to see if it sounded as sad as it did in my head, and guess what? It does). To prep for the day-long readathon tomorrow, I decided to ask my fellow Genies for some book recommendations. Check out what they had to say. 👇
Tools of Titans – Janelle
Read If: You need something besides counting sheep to put you to sleep. Just kidding – Janelle said it’s a “very insightful read!” But then she also said she’s only “casually reading it,” so I just don’t know what to believe anymore.
Synopsis: Gives advice from successful people on habits/routines that they have built that have helped them achieve great health, wealth, or wisdom.
Daisy Jones and the Six – Taryn
Read If: You have FOMO because you didn’t get Fleetwood Mac tickets last year, you like daisies or the number six.
Synopsis: I mean, it’s about music and I’m not really sure what else. I’m not the one who read it.
“It’s just not anything that will change your life.” – Taryn about Daisy Jones and the Six
Attached – Lizz
Read If: Ever smash your ex’s car window? This is the book for you.
Synopsis: Attached uses attachment-style, psychology-based research to break down behavior in relationships and help readers understand their motivations or reasons behind certain behaviors.
The Great Believers – Anthony
Read If: You are a book before movie/TV show kind of person and want to be able to binge the show when it comes out!
Synopsis: The Great Believers focuses on the AIDS epidemic in Chicago in the 1980s and its effects on survivors.
The After Party – Brittany
Read If: You love drama (AKA you’re a Pisces, Scorpio, Aries, or Gemini).
Synopsis: The After Party is a story about two women who have been best friends since birth and how they grew apart from hiding secrets from each other. We love some juicy drama! 👏
The Woman in the Window – Violet
Read If: Don’t.
Synopsis: Hated this book, but it’s the last one I read so here we go. Buckle in, everybody. This book took 200 pages to get good, had one really good plot twist but then ruined itself with 3 more terrible plot twists. The only saving grace this book had is that I read it on a plane and it helped me escape from the Chatty Cathy next to me.
American Airlines Safety Card – Ashleigh
Ashleigh is out of the office today, so I couldn’t ask her for a book recommendation. But, I did see her read the plane safety card on our flight to Arizona, so we’ll just run with that.
Read If: You are on an airplane.
Synopsis: Terrible things could happen on this plane ride, but if you read this pamphlet you will be prepared.
“It was such a thrilling read with a lot of twists and turns. The images helped guide the story along, and although it had a sad ending, I couldn’t recommend it more.” – Ashleigh probably.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar – Jacqui
Read If: You have two kids, own your own company and have a very hungry dog named Alfie
Synopsis: Want to feel like a skinny legend? Read this book. You won’t believe how much this caterpillar eats. He’s not just hungry – he’s VERY hungry.
