Social Media pop-ups are no stranger to TV programs, especially on reality programs and live competition shows. I’m one of those who has always tweeted during my favorite shows, whether it shows up on TV or not, I like to join the conversation with my fellow favorite TV show watchers. I remember tweeting during the finale of Nurse Jackie because 1). It was nuts and 2). None of my friends watch the show. The #NurseJackie hashtag confirmed I was not alone in my astonishment on how it ended.
A few weeks ago, during an episode of Discovery’s new hit, Naked and Afraid, I was determined to get my tweet on the air. I had been rambling on to all of my friends and colleagues on how great this show was – I mean, two complete strangers, naked in the middle of nowhere for 21 days with only two supplies of their choice – who wouldn’t want to watch this show?
So there I was, tweeting 20-something times, about the episode featuring Puma and Julie (the only duo who didn’t make it, of course), and I see my tweet! Thank you, DVR, for allowing me to rewind and capture my glimpse of fame and show off to all my friends. No doubt, I think the fact that I’m immersed in social media all day gave me a slight advantage. 😉
