I have to admit that I am kind of a Bravo TV addict. Most of my DVR is filled with shows on Bravo. The first time I saw a preview for the new show Newlyweds, I immediately set a recurring recording for it. Last night, I watched the Real Housewives of OC and I was delighted to find that Newlyweds was premiering afterwards. I was interested in the show because I have only been married for a year and a half and I figured I might be able to relate to some of these people. While that was not the case, although I have only watched one episode, I did recognize an old friend.
In 1999, I attended a camp in the Cat Skills of New York called, Stagedoor Manor. It was an acting camp and at 15, acting was my passion. Similar to every teenage situation, the camp had cliques and long-time veterans that were considered stars on campus. The most popular guy there was Blair Late. Blair had real talent and was always cast as the star of the main show. Despite Blair’s popularity and rising stardom, he was one of the nicest guys I have ever met. I didn’t spend a ton of time with him but whenever I saw him during my month at Stagedoor, he always managed to brighten my day with a genuine compliment.
Fast forward 14 years, I am watching Newlyweds and someone looks extremely familiar. Where do I know that guy from? Is he an actor? I Googled Blair Late and he has quite the credentials, including a stint as a hugely successful popstar abroad. I knew that I had met this guy before, but where. As I racked my brain, it occurred to me that it could only be one place…Stagedoor Manor. I took to Twitter to confirm my suspicions.
Mystery solved! What would we do without Twitter?
I still wanted to dive a little bit deeper, so I was up early this morning and stopped by my parents’ house to see if I still had my Stagedoor Manor photo album. Indeed I did and I actually had a photo of Blair. I would encourage everyone to watch Bravo’s new show, Newlyweds on Monday at 9PM Central!
