Every social media platform is being constantly updated, so you and your marketing efforts should be, too. Below we’ve rounded up some of the top social media news updates from the past few weeks that you should check out 👇
1. Instagram is rolling out new shopping features
Just in time for the holiday season, Instagram has announced that it is releasing some new features that will increase the time a user spends on the app as well as the likelihood that they will make a purchase via an Instagram post or story.
These updates include a new collection tab to save products tagged in stories or in posts; a new shop tab on business pages where consumers can visit and see all of the products the company’s used in a shopping post; and the ability to shop from videos.

2. LinkedIn is testing out new features
It is rumored that LinkedIn is working on a series of features that will mirror some of Facebook’s capabilities, including but not limited to, post reactions and stories. Unlike Facebook, however, LinkedIn’s reactions will include options such as ‘Like’, ‘Clap’, and ‘Insightful’, to name a few.
While LinkedIn has not officially announced these updates yet, they have been spotted on a few profiles. This means the company is still in the process of testing out these updates and could totally scrap the idea altogether.

3. Instagram continues to crack down on third-party apps
If you haven’t figured it out by now, third-party apps are never a good idea to boost your digital marketing efforts. Whether you are using them to find new followers or  increase engagement, they tend to have a lot more negative side effects than any positive.
In an effort to combat the use of these apps, Instagram announced that they will be removing any likes or follows that are procured via  a third-party app. So if you see your engagement/following decrease in the following weeks, that’s why!
