While every industry has been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, the restaurant industry in particular has faced devastating blows during this time. As more and more states issue orders for residents to shelter-in-place, restaurants around the country have been forced to lay off employees, reduce hours, and even close their doors for good.
In an effort to keep restaurants around the country afloat, our client, the National Restaurant Association, began lobbying Congress to provide relief. From there, their campaign, #RestaurantRecovery was born. Gossip Genie partnered with the National Restaurant Association to bring this campaign to life on social media, creating new and engaging content, and promoting it on all of the Association’s social media channels. Check out some of the results from the campaign below!
The Client
The Goals
The goals of the #RestaurantRecovery campaign were quite simple — garner more letters to Congress, encouraging them to provide aid to restaurants across the country. This meant that on social we needed to:
- Drive awareness for the campaign on the National Restaurant Association’s social media channels
- Share engaging, relevant content that highlight’s the importance of this campaign and drives people to submit a letter to Congress
- Interact with users and celebrities within the restaurant industry on a daily basis to help spread awareness of the campaign and the National Restaurant Association’s efforts
The Results
In just a handful of days, our online efforts helped garner over 307,000 letters to Congress! While things are still updating and changing with how these results will impact the restaurant industry, here are the final results of how the campaign performed on social media. 👇
Impressions
Across all networks, our campaign received 5,069,616 impressions. If you’re new to social media metrics, impressions are the number of times someone sees your campaign. A lot of these impressions are thanks to our organic outreach where we reached out to celebrity chefs and asked them to share our campaign, which several did.
Engagements
In total, the content we produced and shared during this campaign received over 2,716 engagements! We found that the secret to increasing engagements and signatures was to diversify the content we shared. In addition to the campaign graphics our team made, we partnered with the National Restaurant Association’s videography team to create short, engaging video clips to further the campaign’s mission and spread awareness. Coupled with this, as news and information continued to change and update, our team worked to share relevant, timely articles with a call-to-action to our campaign.
The time is now! Use your phones for good and tell congress to support restaurants and our employees. Text RECOVERY to 52886 and learn more here: https://actnow.io/recovery. #RestaurantRecovery
