Coming at you live from the Genie Bottle (is that what our office is called?) to bring you one of my favorite IG updates so far this year: uploadable Instagram highlight cover photos πππΌπ₯
If you’re active on Instagram, you probably know highlights as those little spheres that reside in our bios, housing expired IG stories. A curated collection of memories, this feature is beloved by brands, influencers, and regular users alike! However, the corresponding cover images have been a constant source of frustration, at least for me. Here’s why:
The Old
In order to make cool cover icons like these…
Users were forced to upload slides to their IG stories (like the ones below), then wait 24 hours for them to archive, then finally add them to a highlight and select them as the cover photo. You can find more info about this process from yours truly here.
The Update
That all changed with Instagram’s latest update! Now, users are able to change their IG story highlights at whim, test out different images, and change them with minimal effort. This opens up a whole range of options like seasonally-customized icons (think candy cane stripes for Christmas, pumpkins for Halloween, etc.).
