2. Facebook and Instagram now show how much time you’ve spent on them
Scary, right? Not sure I’d want to see how much time I’m spending mindlessly scrolling through Instagram.
By giving users a raw, updated count of how many minutes they’ve spent on the site each day, Facebook and Instagram are encouraging more mindful engagement. This means users will be far more actively engaged when they go online. A win for marketers all around!

3. Instagram stories can be limited to location
Over the past few weeks, Instagram has been testing some options which will let users control who can see their content. More recently, they have begun testing a ‘Choose locations’ option for Instagram stories. This allows users to limit which countries their stories are seen in and run geospecific campaigns.

4. Voice-activated lenses on Snapchat
Move over, puppy-dog filter, it’s time to bust out the pipes.
Earlier this week, Snapchat released new lenses that respond to your voice rather than your face. Some of the lenses ask users to say words like “love,” or “wow” to activate. While this feature is only available for a handful of users currently, expect to be bombarded with it soon.
