Amidst COVID-19, it is important to focus on the small victories. We were prepared for any of our clients to possibly be hit hard during this pandemic, as did the rest of the world. It was our job as our clients’ social media team to help come up with marketing strategies that were timely and appropriate in response to everything going on. We put our heads together and worked more creatively than ever before to keep their audiences engaged and informed.

In light of all of this, we saw some really positive outcomes happen for our clients as a result of our marketing and wanted to share them as a reminder that social media is an incredibly important tool to utilize during this time.

“Chicago Custom Foods is able to provide shelf-stable products for their customers during this time and a fun flavorful snack for movie nights and breakfasts! They launched Truffle Season’s on April 1 and it has been flying off the shelves ever since!”

“Global Gaming Expo (G2E) has been highlighting the amazing things that casinos and other gaming companies throughout the nation have been doing in response to COVID-19. “Our NewMark Merrill clients are helping their community out by sharing any informational news they find, giving away gift cards to help those in need, and creating fun contests to do online. I have seen growth in our engagement and reach across the board. Their audiences have commented and shared how grateful they are that their mall is showing support to the community.”

“One of our oldest clients, the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation, gained 50k organic news fans in the last 2 weeks as a result of a relief fund they launched in partnership with Guy Fieri to help restaurant workers who lost their jobs. We were able to spread the word through social media which has led to 60,000 people registering for the grant so far.”

“Something positive that has come out of the pandemic is organic engagement! I have noticed that a good number of my accounts have seen an increase in comments, likes and reach. Users are relying more on brands to provide useful and engaging content on social media, so it’s a great time to take advantage of the extra attention.”

“Vision Expo has been able to connect with their audiences in new ways. Even though they were not able to be at the tradeshow, they’re hosting live webinars to engage their audience and stay in touch. There’s a Coffee Talk webinar every Wednesday to discuss how COVID-19 is impacting the optical industry and a Happy Hour on Fridays to bring industry people together and to discuss eyewear and eye care trends.”

“Ever since the shelter-in-place was announced, my client (Southport Grocery) and I have had to get super creative with promoting the cafe while still being clear that they’re not open for business. Among our successes are an extremely well-received series of breakfast/brunch recipes for followers to try at home, a GoFundMe for store employees that exceeded its funding goal, and a ‘mother starter’ giveaway for people looking to bake bread despite the recent flour shortage. Ultimately, these creative initiatives resulted in a HUGE 156% increase in engagements, and a 215% increase in impressions on Instagram in the past month.”

“I think one of the most positive things is just the increase in engagement. Since more people are home now, they’re online a lot more and it just goes to show the positive online communities we’ve helped our clients build and foster. People are more engaged than ever for a lot of my brands and are consistently checking in to see what we’re posting.”
