Today marks one year since I took the leap and decided to join the Genies. 365 days later, I can honestly say it has been one of the best decisions of my life. It’s been a rush – full of amazing trips to client events, countless photo shoots, happy hours, and lots of lessons learned. Here are just a few:

Lean on me

How fortunate am I to be able to say I truly love and respect my co-workers!? That’s not always the norm – I’ve had so many jobs where my associates were perfectly nice people, but maybe not my cup of tea. The genies are different. We genuinely care about each other’s lives and are happy to pick up the slack if someone needs assistance. We work hard and play hard, throw great parties, and genuinely enjoy each others’ company.

Learn to hustle

There’s nothing more satisfying than being on the brink of giving up, then having everything work out in the end. I can’t even count how many times that’s happened in the past year while working at GG. I’ve learned that play-dough can be a lifesaving material to have on hand and that photoshop can revive a photo that you were certain wouldn’t turn out. My endlessly creative co-workers and boss inspire me to hustle and get the job done, no matter what it takes.

Laugh out loud

After a long day at work, a little laughter can go a long way. One of my favorite things about the genies is our collective sense of humor, and how silly we can be together. It makes the day go by twice as fast when we’re able to insert love and laughs into our work, whether it be in person or in our content calendars. It makes me want to “arun”, not walk, to the office 😉

Love what you do

At the end of the day, if you don’t have passion for your work, it will likely show. I’ve learned that the secret to happy clients and a cohesive work environment is just simply caring a whole lot. We all care about the success of the accounts we run, and I think it motivates us as a team to always give 💯. I love positive feedback from those I work with (and admire), and it drives me to try my hardest to exceed our clients’ expectations.
