A wise person once said, “everything is better in your pajamas.” I whole-heartedly agree.

One of my favorite things about working at Gossip Genie is that we have the privilege of working from home every Tuesday and Thursday. For me, this brings a lot of different blessings. Since I don’t have to worry about commuting time, I get to take my dog on a more leisurely morning walk. It also saves me a lot of decision-making time since I don’t have to worry about picking out my outfit or packing a lunch. Plus, I get to wear my “comfies” all day long. It might not sound like much, but it adds up and becomes a wonderful little break in the week when I can hunker down and just focus on the work.

I decided to ask the Genies about their current “WFH” habitats– mostly so I could visualize where they’re sitting when I send them Slack messages on Tuesdays and Thursdays! Here’s what they said.

Lizz

“On a typical WFH day, you can find me posted up on the couch with lots of blankets and a big glass of iced-coffee within arm’s reach. These two “C’s” are the recipe for maximum efficiency: comfort + caffeine.”

Janelle

“Welcome to my crib. My setup is cozy from the comforts of my couch. I almost always have a blanket wrapped around me and Friends playing as background noise.”

Jacqui

“I find peace and quiet at Starbucks to get work done. Otherwise, my interns, Liv and Lex, can be a little distracting.”

Hope

“I enjoy working from home in two different spots! I like to start my mornings checking emails on my cozy couch and in the afternoon I like to work at my dining room table in my sunroom and enjoy the natural light. For my routine, I like to tackle all my emails and quick tasks in the morning before I break for lunch and then put my headphones in and focus on more time-consuming tasks in the afternoon.”

Brittany

“I spend many of my work from home days at none other than Starbucks. I love working outside of my house because I feel more motivated and productive. Having an endless amount of coffee and tea in the same vicinity is a really nice perk, too.”

Anthony

“What I love about working from home is having multiple places to camp out with my computer and focus on my work. You can either find me working at my kitchen counter with a large cup of coffee by my side or lounging on the couch with my Spotify Work Playlist playing on the speakers overhead.”

As for me, I alternate between 5 different places in my apartment. Lately, I’ve been loving this little nook by the window, and conveniently located above Chewy’s bed (and an outlet!). The bright natural light keeps me awake and focused, the chair has been better for my posture than when I cuddle up on the couch (laptop neck pains are a real thing), and I enjoy the view of Chicago and of my dog sleeping below my feet. It feels like I’m in my own little cafe!
