Instagram recently launched its newest feature, enabling users to include up to five links in their profile bio! Mark Zuckerberg states, “probably one of the most requested features we’ve had.” Although Instagram has been testing this much-requested feature since 2021, it recently went live in mid-April of 2023.

This new feature will allow users to expand their drive of traffic to various websites and even maximize their brand’s presence. Now users can link to causes they care about, promote their businesses, and maximize their reach.

This feature is available to all accounts, including personal, brand, and business–unlike TikTok where the feature is only an option for business accounts. When you click on the link, you’ll stay inside the Instagram app unless you move to your built-in browser by clicking the three dots at the top of the page.

This might be bad news for third-party apps like link tree and other linking tools, the long-time key driver of usage for third-party link aggregator tools. Instagram sees this as a competitive advantage, keeping users inside the Instagram app.

To use this new tool, head to ‘Edit profile’ > ‘Links’ > ‘Add external link’. Then, drag and drop to order your links as you’d like them to appear in the app.
