By now, if you don’t have an unhealthy addiction to your TikTok For You page, you’re missing out. The social media app took the world by storm last year as we all stayed inside and filmed short 60-second clips during the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. While the app was relatively new back then, now it’s everywhere!

As TikTok rises in popularity, many brands are beginning to ask the same question — should my brand start posting content on TikTok?

Here are a few things to consider.

1.What is the primary audience for your business?

The largest demographic of TikTok users are people between the ages of 16-35. If your target audience is over the age of 35, you might want to try something else. This article by REQ breaks down the age demographic on the app.

2.Do you have time to experiment?

Ask yourself if your brand is capable of experimenting with new types of content creation! This isn’t like the traditional platforms such as Instagram or Facebook. Clean-cut, branded, and polished videos won’t be the most successful here. Most of the videos have a casual and comedic tone to them, with the main goal being entertainment. Overall, the app just isn’t all that serious and your videos should be either!

3.Will you be able to stay up to date on trends, hashtags, and engage with users?

Tik Tok thrives on current trends and challenges and you have to make sure that your team picks relevant and timely trends to recreate. It’s also a must to make sure your brand’s page is liking comments and commenting back to users. The app is like a wildfire! Just a little goes a long way.

4.What is your main goal?

The most successful brands are the ones looking to increase their brand awareness, especially in a younger demographic. This is done by easily showcasing products or services in a fun and personal way. People see your brand on Tik Tok and feel a personal connection to it. Focus on the message and people will feel connected.

If you feel confident that your brand fits in these categories, then it’s time for you to get on that app and start creating! Need help? Contact us today to get started.
