As we all know, Instagram has been testing a few new features and users are either loving or hating it, but mostly hating it. There are a few updates to keep an eye out for, because it seems like they’ll be around for the long haul. Here are three Instagram updates you should know about! 

1. Reels are Now Eligible for Boosting! 

As we all know, short form videos are taking over the once predominantly photo sharing app, and it seems like they’ll be here to stay. With the new boosting option, brands are able to amplify their videos with the new Boost promotion feature! These boosted Reels will appear in feeds, Stories, and in the explore page of the app. The Reels have to be less than 60 seconds, and be filmed in the vertical 9:16 format. Happy boosting! 

2. New Instagram Format and Sizing Updates

Instagram has changed it’s sizing format! Take a look at the graphic above to make sure your correctly sizing your brands photos, for a fresh and professional looking feed. 

3. Business Search Tools added to the IG Map

Instagram’s new map feature will allow users to discover local businesses and get more info about them with this new tool! The new Map Search option enables users to explore popular tagged places around them while simultaneously filtering the locations by specific categories. This will allow us to explore more location-based content, with tagged public Stories and posts  that showcase what businesses look like through other users’ experiences.

 

Keep an eye out for more IG updates! The app is also launching new changes on select Instagram profiles in a series of data testing. You might just be one of the the lucky (or unlucky) ones.
