Top Podcast Recommendations from the Genies

If you had asked me a few years ago if I’d be writing about podcast recommendations, I would have been confused. In some ways, the concept of a podcast seems completely antiquated and yet it has become an increasingly popular medium over the last five years.

While not all of the Genies can get on board with the trend, many of us tune into podcasts as we commute to work, run errands, and even while cranking out some monthly social media reports for clients. Here are a few of the Genie’s favorite podcast picks as of late.

My Favorite Murder is the hit true crime comedy podcast hosted by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark. Since its inception in early 2016, the show has broken download records and sparked an enthusiastic, interactive “Murderino” fan base who came out in droves this spring for the sold-out nationwide tour.

Casefile True Crime Podcast, or simply Casefile, is a weekly true crime podcast that first aired in Australia in January 2016 and hosted by an Australian man who remains anonymous. The series deals with solved or cold criminal cases, often related to well-known murders and serial crimes. Lizz says “This is one of the best I’ve found in the true crime genre. The speaker goes into great detail on each case and it’s fascinating to hear him recount famous events like the People’s Temple of Jim Jones and others. Perfect for a long road trip.”
